si beh in effetti i pareri sono molto discordanti..penso che dipenda un po da come uno è abituato a vedere,poi come dice il buon Clint Eastwood: "Le opinioni sono come le palle, ognuno ha le sue"

Riguardo al firmware?nessuno mi sa rispondere se è bene aggiornarlo oppure no?

Il firmware 1.3 è stato annunciato ma ancora non è disponibile per il download. Lo sto aspettando per vedere se riesce a risolvermi il problema del sub mancante nell'audio HD.

Le riviste che fin qui hanno recensito il lettore ne hanno parlato in maniera estremamente positiva per quanto concerne la riproduzione di DVD standard.

Qualcuno dice che è buono con i dvd sd altri no..secondo me è bene che chi lo vuol comprare lo veda prima con i suoi occhi e poi decida,onde evitare spiacevoli sorprese.

Questa mattina con la "complicità" dell'addetto FNAC ho pasato un'ora e mezza a fare un confronto tra il Toshiba collegato un LCD da 42" della Samsung NON FULL HD e BD Samsung collegato ad un Philips 37" FULL HD in Component ( niente HDMI ) entrambi con un minimo regoalzioni quindi magari se regolati finemente la resa potrebebbe cambiare ma non so di quanto.
- HDDVD di FF Tokyo Drift : mi ha veramente impressionato per la qualità dei dettagli e per l'estrema pulizia delle immagini specialmete a 720p.
A 1081i meno ma penso che dipendesse dalla TV.
- BD Click : veramente pessimo con molto rumore video soprattutto nelle scene in interno in quelle in esterni/primni piani molto meglio
- BD Hitch : in confronto a Click sicuramente un passo avanti ma rispetto al HDDVD è come se ci fosse sempre davanti una patina che rende le immagini meno nitide.

- DVD a 576p della Mummia : qui i due player secondo me se la giocano alla pari... almeno rispetto al Panasonic S35 che uso nomalmente, quindi almeno ai MIEI occhi per i DVD va più che bene.

Al momento opterei per HDDVD perchè forse la codifica VC1 è stata sfruttata meglio , il DB penso che possa solo che migliorare ....

Quello che voglio dire è che Hitc non è certo un film con i quale mettere in luce le qualità del blu ray e fare eventuali paragoni. Prova a vedere altri film e vedrai che la qualità è sicuramente superiore a quanto visto sin'ora.

Al momento credo che il rapporto prezzo/prestazioni/qualità in base ai titoli usciti sia a favore dell' HDDVD.

Aggiornato anche io... nulla di nuovo, nemmeno il fatto che solo con gli HD-DVD il segnale sub sparisce. Ma chi lo ha collegato tramite HDMI sente il sub tranquillamente?

Overview:
As part of our commitment to provide world-class services to our customers, Toshiba is supplying this firmware update for use by purchasers of Toshiba HD DVD Player models HD-E1 and HD-XE1. This firmware update addresses certain disc playback and HDMI/DVI related problems identified by Toshiba.

How to obtain and install the update:
If you have a broadband internet service, you may obtain the firmware update over the internet using the Ethernet port on the back of your HD DVD Player. Instructions for configuring the Ethernet port and downloading the firmware update can be found in the owner’s manual for your HD DVD Player. This can also be viewed online at: www.toshibahddvd.co.uk

Set out below is an overview of the process:
- BEFORE BEGINNING THE FIRMWARE UPDATE PROCESS, BE SURE TO REMOVE ANY DISCS FROM YOUR HD DVD PLAYER.

- Follow the directions in your owner’s manual to configure the Ethernet port. You may need to turn on DHCP and DNS.

- After you have configured the Ethernet port, follow the directions in the owner’s manual to check for a firmware update.

- If a firmware update is available for your player, it will take about 20 minutes to download and install. Once the firmware update download process has finished, the player’s power will automatically switch off. You must wait until this process has finished.

- DO NOT UNPLUG, TURN OFF, OR USE ANY OTHER FEATURE OF YOUR PLAYER DURING THE FIRMWARE UPDATE PROCESS. Doing so will cause the writing of the firmware update to the player to be halted and the player may no longer operate properly. If the player stops working, please contact Toshiba Customer Service on 01159 766958.

- If no firmware update is available, the player will quickly exit the update process.

If none of these solve the problem, please turn off the TV and the HD DVD player. Check all connections. Disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable. Q4. During HD DVD playback I sometimes experience pixelization, block noise or audio dropouts. Sometimes playback freezes or stops. Sometimes, playback is not smooth. Does the new firmware address these issues?

A4. This firmware update addresses various playability issues. You should also check to be sure that the disc is clean and, if the disc will not operate at all, that you are inserting the disc with the right side up. A5. No. The current firmware update includes all of the prior firmware updates.

Sono finalmente riuscito a fare l'aggiornamento alla 1.3 !!!
ma ho dovuto usare un modem router perche' il toshiba non ne voleva sapere di tirare su una connessione PPoE ...

Non riscontro pero' miglioramenti evidenti nell'upgrade ... quindi anche se non lo avessi fatto sarebbe stato uguale (prima avevo la 1.2)

Ragazzi ho un problema con il lettore toshiba,ho provato ieri sera il dvd(non hd) di Happy Feet ma non c'e' niente da fare,nn funziona esce una scritta a schermo che dice check the disc....bo??non funziona,ho provato a cambiare qualche parametro di settaggio ma il disco nn parte,mentre facendo delle prove con degli hddvd la visione è spettacolare.....bo,qualcuno mi puo aiutare?grazie
Ovviamento provato su un lettore normale il dvd funziona normalmente,puo' essere un problema di firmware?io ho installato ancora quello originale.....

Per la cronaca è uscito penso oggi l'aggiornamento 1.5 per i toshiba. Ancora non so cosa cambi, ma ho appena finito di scaricarlo. Faro qualche prova.
