The OPPO UDP-203 and UDP-205 share many of the same primary components, and while the UDP-203 and UDP-205 are identical in performance when it comes to video, the UDP-205 offers a number of enhancements in terms of audio.
The UDP-205 features improved sound quality from its analog audio outputs courtesy of its implementation of dual 32-bit ESS Technology ES9038 PRO reference DACs, a toroidal power supply, and two sets of dedicated stereo analog outputs (balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA) for 2-channel enthusiasts. Customers who do a great deal of critical music listening using a very high end, analog connected system will benefit most from these additions.
The UDP-205 also features a high precision HDMI clock and special HDMI audio jitter reduction circuit on its HDMI Audio Only output. For more information about this feature, please read the following KB article here.
As of November 2017, the UDP-205 supports the audio format MQA (Master Quality Authenticated). Customers are able to play MQA files from connected USB hard drives and thumb drives, DLNA servers, and SMB shares.
Finally, the UDP-205 also features a headphone amplifier for use with high-quality headphones, as well as three additional digital audio inputs to take advantage of the internal DACs (optical, coaxial, and a 2-channel asynchronous USB DAC input.)
Please reference the table below for a quick breakdown of the differences between the UDP-203 and UDP-205.

FAQ
Can the UDP-203 and UDP-205 play the new 4K UHD Blu-ray discs?
Yes, the UDP-203 and UDP-205 are 4K UHD players that can play the new 4K UHD Blu-ray discs, as well as 4K media files. In addition, they are able to play Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, DVD, DVD-A, SACD, and CD.
Do the UDP-203 and UDP-205 support Dolby Vision?
Yes, as of June 2017, both players have support for Dolby Vision.
Do the UDP-203 and UDP-205 have any built-in streaming services such as Netflix or VUDU?
In order to provide a premium user experience with quick start-up times and fast response, the players are designed with a purist approach in mind for disc and file playback, and so it does not carry internet video and music streaming apps. Instead, an HDMI 2.0 input port that supports UHD resolution is available for users to connect an external streaming device. This approach affords users the flexibility to choose from a wide range of streaming devices and easily upgrade as streaming technologies evolve, while still taking advantage of the players' audio and video processing capabilities.
Is the UDP-203 and UDP-205's main HDMI output 2.0, 2.0a or 2.0b?
In our documentation, we are not distinguishing between the a/b revisions of the HDMI 2.0. We simply use the HDMI 2.0 term to show that the player can output video at the 18Gbps data rate. If we must use a revision number, currently the main HDMI output on the players is HDMI 2.0a since the difference between the 2.0a revision and initial 2.0 is the support for HDR, and the player supports HDR. When we upgrade the player to support Dolby Vision in the future, the output will become HDMI 2.0b compliant since supporting HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) HDR meta data is the difference between 2.0b and 2.0a. The HDMI input and output are HDCP 2.2 compliant.
Can the UDP-203 and UDP-205's HDMI input support 4K with HDR? Yes, the players' HDMI inputs are capable of receiving a 4K signal with HDR10.
Can the UDP-203 and UDP-205 strip HDR metadata from 4K discs and media files while maintaining the BT.2020 color space? Yes. For customers using projectors or older 4K displays that do not support HDR, yet still want to take advantage of the BT.2020 color space, the players are capable of stripping the HDR metadata from the signal while still maintaining the BT.2020 color space output.
Will the UDP-203 or UDP-205 be available in silver? No.
