... e sottolineo (ora mi ricordo bene) che il 1080p con l'ultimo firmware era (è) disponibile anche sul POP 1 (prima versione "liscia" senza SDI).

in effetti il POP II era già in grado di dare il 1080p,ma a differenza della versione HDMI che uscirà non accettava in ingresso segnali a scansione Proggressiva.

Una curiosità: ma se entro in HDMI 720p, posso uscire in bypass su RGB o Component analogici?

Per fare posto al Kit HDMI verranno rimossi i due bypass input + un component output.
Sotto le specifiche preliminari rilasciate dalla Cinemateq.

With the "HDMI upgrade kit" each optimizer plus II (SDI) can be extended by four scalable HDMI inputs and one HDMI output, i.e. older models in the "plus II" series can also benefit from the
upgrade. Besides the HDMI enhancement, the upgrade will also provide a revised DVI output
(supplemented by HDCP and audio functionality), an audio switching option for the HDMI inputs and two
additional inputs and outputs for digital audio.
Using the "HDMI upgrade kit" it will be possible to connect up to four HDMI sources (such as an HDTV
SAT receiver, a progressive DVD player or a PC via DVI) to the picture optimizer plus II and to issue their
signals via two digital outputs, even in parallel. At the same time, the video signal can be scaled as required
and displayed at all standard resolutions as high as 1080p. The option of also being able to control digital
audio signals through the picture optimizer is a new addition too.
In line with cinemateq philosophy even picture optimizer plus II models made in previous years can be
retro-fitted with the "HDMI upgrade kit". In order to find the necessary space for the new inputs and
outputs, the upgrade removes the two bypass inputs and one of the three analogue outputs, which means
that as regards inputs, the kit provides two scart (RGB, composite), two RCA (FBAS) or BNC (in the SDI
version), two S-video, two YUV RCA and four screwable HDMI sockets in addition to two digital audio
inputs. As regards outputs, connections can be made to 5 BNC sockets, a VGA (for RGB and all types of
YUV) jack, an HDMI and a DVI card slot and a combination "RCA / Toslink" socket for output of digital
audio.

Ma delle uscite rimanenti, se entro con un segnale HDMI soggetto ad HDCP, posso uscire in analogico RGBHV (praticamente facendo fare al POP la funzione di "sprotettore" del segnale)???

Penso possa essere possibile,poichè l'HDCP non influisce sulle uscite analogiche.
Un pò come succede con il converter DVI-VGA.

è interessante il fatto che il segnale HD (720p o 1080i) possa essere elaborato dal processore. non è chiaro se anche l'uscita analogica possa essere utilizzata per una sorgente in HD.

il costo dell'operazione è "solo" di 995 euro e sarà fatta unicamente on site.

resta di fatto che non si conoscono ancora i cambiamenti HW che verranno effettuati, ho scritto loro di poter conoscere le modifiche, spero mi rispondano.
