sì... dice che avevano fatto dei master hd già all'uscita dei film in sale ( e hanno usato per i dvd) poi recentemente tipo nel 2008 li hanno rifatti ex novo (anche nella correzione dei colori) dopo aver fatto vedere a Jakson un confronto con i 2 master HD per ciascun film.. e quindi sono quelli rifatti quelli che vediamo negli attuali BD:
When Warner Home Video took over the New Line catalogue of titles, they were very eager to put LOTR out on Blu-ray. However, the original HD masters of LOTR were nearly a decade old at this point, and HD mastering technology had improved over the past 10 years - so the question was whether to release the old HD masters on BD as is - or create new ones.
So, one of Mike Mulvihill's last goals while still in his position at New Line Home Entertainment was to create a test for Peter Jackson - comparing the old HD masters to new HD transfers for a clip from each of the three films - as a back-to-back comparison.
Peter concurred that new HD masters were in order - and also wanted to do some tweaks to the color correction of the films as well. Andrew Lesnie, the films' director of photography, was brought in to help make these corrections, and help approve the new HD masters for BD. Once Andrew approved the masters, WHV moved into production on the discs.
Inoltre il famoso Box Set definitivo (?...) uscirà in futuro e conterrà un documentario girato dallo stesso Jackson sulla produzione della trilogia..
Per questa edizione hanno messo a posto la traccia del primo capitolo che era in semplice 5.1 e mixata in maniera diversa dagli intenti iniziali.
In buona sostanza la diatriba sul master pare in qualche modo risolta dall'articolo che dice che l'attuale uscita in BD presenta il nuovo master rifatto apposta nel 2007.. e a questo punto onestamente non so se aspettarmi davvero un ulteriore master migliorato nella edizione estesa.. ne dubito, a meno che non sia Jackson a decidere di rifare tutto..
l'unica cosa che non torna, ma non sapremo forse mai è perchè una volta Jackson dice che ha visto e approvato i master (come l'articolo conferma) e invece poi recentemente nell'intervista linkata nella pagina precedente fa capire che lui non ha fatto nulla e ha deciso tutto la Warner..
Boh.. tanto cambia ben poco, intanto c'è questo cofanetto, che è comunque buono, anche se non eccellente come si sperava, e x il futuro vedremo come avranno intenzione di incuriosirci con nuove promesse.. e se ci ricascheremo
