http://www.lpmorgan.com.au/projection_concepts/screen_gain.htm
http://www.lpmorgan.com.au/projection_concepts/screen_material.htm
"The performance of both LCD and DLP projectors are optimised by matte white projection surfaces"
"We strongly recommend you use nothing but matte white. Only matte white guarantees the best all round performance"
http://www.projectorcentral.com/projection_screens_a.htm
"Now, for those starting out with their first entry level home theater projector, a white wall is much better than nothing. Just make sure it is white. Don't paint it gray thinking you will replicate a Stewart Firehawk. You won't. The essential magic of the Firehawk is in its optical coating, not just the simple fact that it is gray. So if you paint your wall gray you will get an even duller image than you would by leaving it white"
