What is the Zen+ Blu-Ray Media Server for Oppo
The LIV Zen+ Blu-Ray Media Server is a small, stylish and silent media server built upon our popular Zen Music Server specifically designed and pre-configured for the Oppo BDP-95 and especially the new BDP-105 Blu-Ray player. The Zen+ is the perfect companion for the Oppo BDP-105 for both audio and video.
For audio, the Zen automatically stores CDs to lossless format (FLAC) with a very accurate CD ripper that ensures your CD is transmitted bit by bit to the internal hard drive. But the Zen itself is a music player that connects to your Oppo BDP-105 via asynchronous USB, allowing the playback of your CDs and high-resolution audio up to 24bit/192Khz directly to your Oppo You can then control the music player via a smartphone, tablet or laptop. The control app is available for iOS (iPhone/iPad), Android, Windows 8 Phone and Windows 8 RT. Since the Zen supports Internet Radio, Spotify, Deezer, Last.fm and many other online services, you can then listen to all these services enjoying the Oppo’s excellent Sabre DAC. For the Oppo BDP-95, it provides only your music files up to 24bit/192KHz, there’s no access to online services.
But not only will the Zen+ be a true audiophile-grade music server for your Oppo, it’s also a great media server too. The Zen+ automatically stores DVDs and Blu-Ray discs (except when protected by Cinavia) in MKV format with no loss or compression whatsoever, including DTS-HD audio tracks and all subtitles. You can then use the Oppo to stream the MKV files via your network so you can enjoy all your movies at the touch of a button with the same excellent audio and video quality that is hallmark of the Oppo. The Zen+ automatically identifies the disc with data from the Internet and renames the MKV file accordingly.
The Zen+ is completely fanless and with its stylish design, it will sit perfectly next to your Oppo. You won’t hear any noise from the Zen+ to disturb your quiet night listening sessions.
If you own a multi-room music player system such as Sonos or Squeezebox, the Zen+ is pre-configured to be a server for these systems, allowing you to listen to your music at any time without having your PC on and with much better performance than any NAS currently on the market. The Zen automatically re-indexes your Sonos or Squeezebox library once a CD is stored so it’s ready to listen right away.
In addition to these, the Zen+ works flawlessly with DLNA network music players such as:
· Naim Uniti (works as a Naim UnitiServe system)
· Linn DS
· Simple Audio (with the optional Twonky Media Server installation)
· Simaudio MiND
· Pioneer N50
· Cambridge Audio NP30
· Denon 720AE
The Zen+ automatically creates mobile versions of your music in mp3 so you can take them with you on your iPod/iPhone/iPad or Android smartphone/tablet. It’s also possible to stream music directly to and from your phone or tablet using the Zen’s DLNA capabilities.
The Zen+ includes only the best and most reliable components including super-quiet enterprise grade hard drive with 3 years warranty, high-quality external power adapter with low power noise ripple and a regulated power supply integrated directly in the motherboard. This setup provides minimal power noise on the USB output in order to provide the best sound quality to your Oppo.
LIV Technology Concepts is an official VortexBox partner in the UK, using our own version control and with in-house developments to provide as much a plug-and-play experience as possible. We can provide remote sessions if additional configuration of the Zen is needed for your setup, so you don’t have to delve hours on the Internet or reading manuals.
