I'm just curious... In order to use the "Directional Motion Adaptive Deinterlacing Algorithm" when viewing DVDs through WMP10, what settings do I have to change within WMP and my NVDVD decoder to see it in action?

You need DXVA set on the DVD Decoder, so it won't work with DScaler (and no ffdshow of course)

You sure about this? With MMC you can force Overlay or VMR7 and use IDCT in Dscaler. Wouldn't that work?

Qualcuno ha fatto delle prove con "Adaptive" nel menu del Catalyst Copntrol Center?!

Io dovrei finalmente reinstallare tutto (ora che è stato risolto il problema di riaccensione continua dell'htpc) questo fine settimana e provo a darci un occhio

Non ho mai installato il control center , questo fine settimana non so' se ho tempo.
Prima o poi del male me lo faccio

Quelle della 6 andavano con la7 (no la televisione ) , quelle della 7 andavano con la 8 ... per cui penso che possano solo peggiorare

Sono ancora a metà della installazione di uno dei tre sistemi operativi che uso nell'HTPC comunque...

Ho installato i 5.9 con il CCC (Catalyst Control Center) e TT 2.11
Ieri sera ho visto un film ma non era valido come test (Jackass the movie) metà con MCE e metà con TT.

Intanto ho scritto questo e vediamo se rispondono quelli di TT

ho trovato anchio un paio di orette e sono con i 5.9 ed il control center.
Dalle prove che ho fatto , DVD HD via sat e TSHD , mi sembra che non deinterlacci niente ... nel senso che lo devo far fare ancora al software.
L'unica cosa che mi e' sembrata leggermente piu' sharp l'immagine , ma potrebbe essere placebo.

In effetti chi ha trovato un vantaggio utilizza TT con Nvidia decoder , DXVA e deinterlacciamento auto ... per cui chi deinterlaccia ?

Comunque carino il CCC ... non pensavo e per fortuna funziona ancora Powerstrip.

Are you sure? I think it should be 'Motion Adaptive Deinterlacing.' This one is better in the preview window. Here are the descriptions from the Help file for CCC:

"Deinterlacing creates a sharp image from the two video fields of interlaced video. Select one of five options for deinterlacing video for better viewing.

Auto Detect lets the multimedia driver to select the best deinterlacing scheme for different video sources and sizes.
Bob deinterlacing, when selected, removes every other line of the video image and is recommended for motion video.
Adaptive deinterlacing, when selected, reacts to the amount of motion in the video and apply a media filter on a motion block and apply weave on the remaining blocks.

By the way, the Help file also says that to select a deinterlacing mode you should "Expand Avivo™ Video in Advanced View." I guess they are getting ready for the release of the X1800.

Tra l'altro il "consigliato" come al solito e' auto.
In effetti rimangono parecchi lati oscuri.
Vai a capire come interagisce il decoder mpeg con quel settaggio .
Va be' altro mistero come il purevideo Nvidia , ATI non poteva essere da meno

In pratica Trulli ha fatto una deduzione logica:
Dato che Motion adaptive, come voce-possibilità di scelta, era già presente nei driver 5.6 allora quella voce non è corrispondente alla nuova feature che è attribuibile alla voce Adaptive prima non presente nelle scelte.

Se è vero alla ATI si sono fumati di tutto.
Avrebbero introdotto una nuova caratteristica chiamandola con un nome che già usavano per altro.

Ed ecco finalmente un commento da chi li scrive i decoder mpeg.
L'autore di Dscaler :

To try and clarify, the new drivers only seem to support the new motion adaptive deinterlacing when used with NV12 video. There is some basic deinterlacing performed on YUY2 video but it is not very good, no deinterlacing seems to be supported at all for YV12. So at the moment it is not possible to get decent video deinterlacing using the dscaler 5 decoder. I'll add support for NV12 at some point.

By the way if you look at the "save all information" file from DxDiag there is a bit in the video card section that says what deinterlacing modes are supported. in each modes line there is information on the number of history fields taken into account, the YUY2 mode is only 1 field history which means it will tend to have to hide detail, the best NV12 mode uses 2 fields and from what I've seen under DXVA looks ok.

NV12 is a 4:2:0 format similar but annoyingly different to YV12, MS say it is the preferred format for 4:2:0 and I think it is used by DXVA so that's why ATI would focus on it. Foot doing OK....
