As always seems the case, this new feature has caused significant ripple in other features. For example, we are changing the output configuration setup. We have 8 output configurations. Before, each configuration held all the information about one setup (e.g. day, night, B&W, etc.). The output configurations are being split into three parts (mode, CMS, and "style" - which is everything else such as HDMI format, blanking, masking). Now each of the three sections of an output configuration are independently selected. So, for example you can select the same CMS (0-7) for two different output rates (e.g. Mode0 and Mode1). Or, you can have two different CMS (e.g. day, night) associated with the same Mode. To further enhance flexibility, the output Mode can now be one of the 8 output Modes (0-7), blank-video, or any mode in the output Mode-list.

This change allows us to fit the 3D output features into the current configuration data structure. This output configuration change will also enhance 2D setup. Note that if you are already setup with the current software you will not need to redo your setup if you update to the newer software - unless you want to use the extra flexibility provided by the new method of course.

We believe we are two weeks away from a first Beta release for HDMI 1.4 3D. Note that this release does NOT apply to "CRT 3D" (or any 120 Hertz "3D ready" displays). The "CRT 3D" is several months away.

We are charging an upgrade fee for HDMI 1.4 3D support. The fee during Beta is $299. After we release the HDMI 1.4 to production the fee will be $499. You must apply to be in the Beta program. However, you can be in the Beta program even if you don't have a 3D display yet to save the difference in the upgrade cost.

If you are interested please send an email to sales@lumagen.com with your serial number. We will then contact you with additional information once we are ready to release the Beta. After you upgrade we will provide you with a serial number specific "key" to enable the 3D features.

We believe the Beta will be robust, but as with all things HDMI, we do expect some manufacturers will do unexpected things with their HDMI interface and we expect to encounter some compatibility issues, which we will need feedback on from our Beta sites. In addition, not all features will be in the early Beta releases. We already have the anamorphic and aspect control in for Bluray and Playstation 3D games, but for satellite "Half resolution" formats, aspect control will not be in early Beta releases."

Si non c'è nessun aggiornamento hw.
Si tratta solo di un upgrade sw che richiede una chiave (che dipende dal seriale della macchina) per sbloccare il funzionamento.

Esatto...e tra l'altro la versione hdmi 1.1 riuscira' a veicolare il 3D come quella 1.4.....altro che marketing!

Voglio sperare che venga "offerto" il 3D passthrough con un update per il fw 2D (come farà la Anchorbay), perchè sinceramente di spendere 500 dollari (o 300 per far da cavia) non ne ho molta voglia...

Sorry, no. It would be $500 to upgrade to Lumagen support plus an additional $299 for the 3D Beta, for a total of $799.
If you wait until production it would be $499 for the 3D. So the difference is $300, not the total
It is a software download. You would then enter a per-serial number "key" to enable 3D that we would send you after payment

Tutto ciò mi sembra francamente esagerato. Certo, con questi prezzi deve funzionare perfettamente il 3D, magari convertirà pure segnali 2d nativi ... altrimenti

In cosa consistono quei 500 dollari per upgrade al supporto Lumagen?

Scusate, e' tutto ancora piu' semplice : i clienti RADIANCE ufficiali italiani (attraverso la distribuzione Plasmapan) hanno diritto ad un prezzo particolare sul firmware 3D FINAL RELEASE. Potete inviarmi email o scrivere in PM le vostre generalita' e numero seriale del RADIANCE e conoscere il prezzo a voi riservato.

GLI ALTRI utenti che hanno comprato da import paralleli avranno il prezzo standard di 499 dollari USA convertiti in euro al cambio attuale ed aggiunti dell'IVA al 20%.

Il firmware 3D sara' scaricabile ed installabile da chiunque, ma solo chi avra' il codice di sblocco della funzionalita' 3D potra' godere effettivamente del RADIANCE 3D. Il codice di sblocco 3D sara' emesso da Lumagen con tramite Plasmapan ed e' legato al numero seriale specifico del proprio processore. Il codice non funzionera' su nessun'altra unita' RADIANCE ed e' quindi strettamente personale. Il code-generator e' solo nelle mani di Lumagen. Il codice si immette via telecomando.

Come Plasmapan preferiamo attendere il firmware 3D finale e non aderiamo alla Beta. Aderire al programma Beta 3D ha un costo ed anche per questo preferiamo attendere la Final Release.

Lodi a Lumagen che lavora per rendere 3D-Bluray compratibile il RADIANCE senza cercare la strada per loro piu' redditizia : proprorre un nuovo processore. E si parla si 3D-Bluray PROCESSING & CALIBRATION, non pass-through!
