preso da avforums, spero di fare cosa gradita
Hi,
I have some good news regarding the backlighting issue with the PFL9704 models. I spoke with the danish Philips division this morning, and the technician informed me that Philips is well aware of the backlighting problem and have already fixed the issue (not sure what the fix was, but I assume they're replacing the panels with the latest generation, as has been indicated in the forum - but this is pure speculation). I was told that Philips would replace faulty sets, which I also expected, but it's always nice to see electronic giants like Philips rise to the expectations.
According to the Philips technician, a new batch is due to arrive in Denmark in january, 2010, and the TVs should be optimized for top performance in every aspect (we'll see about that, but currently the backlighting issue is my only gripe with the TV).
Regardless of the backlighting issue, I still think the TV delivers really stunning pictures when fed high quality HD material, and if Philips can truly fix this issue, it's going to be a TV I'll keep for a long time. I'm impressed with the black levels and aside from a minor quirk with a CAM card (that the TV seems to loose contact with from time to time - which is 99% related to an instable CAM card), I'm very happy with the TV.
There, saved your christmas, didn't I
