altre impressioni fresche fresche ( stanno cominciando a distribuire il 4805 a chi lo aveva prenotato ) :
First impression several DVDs later ...
Don't know how to describe this without falling all over myself with superlatives! Watching the 4805 is a deeply immersive visual experience. The picture quality on HD content is indeed filmlike ... smooth, trasty, 3d without feeling pushed. Flesh tones just perfect to my eyes. Everything clean and stable. Watchable even a few feet away (kids are gonna love this!). The grey/black bars watching 2:35 content was no sort of distraction.
In all those viewing hours, my inner tweaker NEVER had a jumpup moment. Out of the box this thing is gorgeous.
SDE ... the pixel array appears utterly uniform, square, neutral. In my opinion 1.5X is sufficient (then again, I had this screen ...)
I can't stress how important the screen will be for you. I tried black out cloth, 300 thread gray egyptian bedsheet, white foamcore, 0.1 mil RP grey projection vinyl ... but the material I wound up using was the DARK PURPLE WALL just painted with a flat Glidden interior latex! Light cannon indeed! This PJ is hungry for a <1 gain screen. Another trip to Lowes for some flat grey paint this afternoon ...
The projector itself operates proactively. When I turned off the DVD player it went hunting for another source (HD cable in this case). You can fine tune the presets (pc/film/video/etc) or create your own (user 1/2/3). The ONLY mis-step was switching back and forth from SD to HD in cable, which caused it to mis-sync and required a "get" command; this can easily be incorporated into two user presets for SD/HD content.
I apologize for not including a pic or 10, but I didn't want to insult you guys with screenshots off a purple wall ;-) Suffice that the wait since January has been worth it; expectations met or surpassed. The 4805 is a breakthough product. I can imagine higher resolution, but not a better overall picture.

ps: I have a cheap piece of junk apex dvd player which has been bashed in on the case. Even so, watching the superbit Fifth Element (connected via component) was a revelation! Everything you may have heard about this reference DVD is true. Jaw dropping gorgeous on the 4805!
