"Next month's release of "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" will mark the first time a commercially available DVD will be viewable in a resolution significantly higher than today's standard DVDs. Artisan Home Entertainment has partnered with Microsoft and Sonic Foundry on the release, which packages a standard DVD together with a DVD-ROM enhanced with Microsoft Windows Media 9 Series technology. "Artisan has always been at the forefront of DVD technology, and we think it's good for DVD in general because eventually high-def is the way we're going to go," senior vp marketing Josea Belcher said. "People want to see movies and features in the highest quality possible." Microsoft officials said the resolution on the DVD-ROM is nearly twice that of a traditional DVD. Additionally, the soundtrack can be heard in 5.1 surround sound."
