Notizia molto importante considerando che Mainconcept ha un encoder avanzato h.264 e divx un accordo commerciale per l'utilizzo del marchio in molti player stand-alone. Imho un passo verso la sostituzione del "vecchio" divx con un più performante h.264 anche nei player da tavolo.
Nov 14 (Reuters) - DivX Inc (DIVX.O: Quote, Profile, Research) said it acquired MainConcept AG, a Germany-based provider of video technologies, in a cash and stock deal valued at about $22 million, with additional milestone payments of up to about $6 million.
DivX, a maker of video compression software, said increased costs related to operations and the integration of MainConcept could impact its fourth quarter by about 2 cents to 3 cents a share.
The company said it expects the deal to add to quarterly earnings in the second half of 2008. (Reporting by Shikhar Balwani in Bangalore)
