ATI vs NVIDIA vs XGI

ragazzi mi inserisco velocissimamente per dire che non capisco come mai non si parli molto delle Matrox. Ieri io e 3 ragazzi del forum abbiamo fatto test su un Metavision cht726 e abbiamo provato sia una radeon 9600 che una matrox G400, si avete capito bene la vecchia G400. Ebbene la Matrox ha una qualità d'immagine e una colorimetria superiore. Tutto in vga. Altra scoperata che personalemente ho fatto è che il vga è migliore del dvi..lo credevo impossibile e invece la qualità dei colori e delle sfumature mi è parsa molto superiore a quella in DVI.
Dico inoltre che a casa posseggo anche una geforce 6600, spremuta per bene per 6 mesi sia in overlay che in vmr9 e la considero inferiore sia ad Ati che a Matrox.

Nvidia

Le nostre misurazioni fra Ati e Matrox sono state "occhiometriche" e in overlay comunque

La vera limitazione delle matrox è l'assenza (tranne in una pharelia da 350€) dell'uscita component e del supporto HDTV, per cui chi come me la deve collegare ad un crt che non ha il DVI si deve accontentare dell's-video.

We can be very clear in our conclusions; there is no need to invest $ 2000 or more in a high-end DVD player. A PC with a recent graphics card will produce a much better result for a lot less money. When looking at the final scores of the HQV test, both ATI and nVidia graphics cards perform a lot better than any DVD player we have tested. We would go as far as to say to get rid of your DVD player and connect a media centre PC to your LCD television!

The HQV test do show that ATI has a slight advantage over nVidia, mainly due to the excellent results in the cadence tests. With a total score of 118 points ATI is only surpassed by the 4000 dollar Denon DVD player that scored 130 points in the tests. If we only look at tests that are representative for the European market nVidia has a slight advantage over ATI.

Another conclusion we can draw is that both companies have mastered motion adaptive deinterlacing and noise reduction. nVidia offers better possibilities to adjust the overall sharpness of the image, but ATI does handle badly authored DVD’s better. We cannot appoint a clear winner from these tests, but we can say that a PC can be seen as a worthy replacement for a DVD player.

After publication of our initial results, nVidia contacted us (nota mia: :D ) to let us know that the latest drivers give an even better HQV result when the PureVideo decoder is set to Automatic instead of Smart for deinterlacing. nVidia also told us that with 90-series drivers, it's no longer necessary to use nVidia's own PureVideo MPEG2 decoder to obtain the highest image quality. Third party software like Cyberlink's PowerDVD en Intervideo's WinDVD can also take full advantage of the hardware capabilities of the nVidia chips, as long as hardware acceleration is enabled in those programs.
We have redone our HQV testing with the latest 91.47 ForceWare drivers and deinterlacing set to Automatic on our test system with a GeForce 7900 GTX videocard. And indeed, nVidia now passes all cadence tests with flying colors, resulting in a 30 point gain and a total score of 123 HQV points. This is five point ahead of ATI, thanks to nVidia's superiour image sharpening algorithms which is currently the only point of difference between ATI and nVidia in the HQV benchmark.

peccato, ancora 7 punti dietro ad un Denon da 4000$...

peccato che non sappiano cosa sia un HTPC "on the rocks" (con ghiaccio, leggi ffdshow)... sennò il Denon lo fumavano... :D

Con Ffdshow (normal use) in catena si fanno circa tre punti con quei test ... eppure i film si vedono meglio.
Low is better.

Mah , vacci a capire qualcosa ;)
 
Quando il codice di ffdshow verrà acquistato e licenziato da Teranex e Silicon Optix allora inizieranno a fare 130 sull'HQV Benchmark.
