I sinto ampli Onkyo di questo periodo (non so quelli attuali) erano settati per dare il meglio in HT... musicalmente proprio non ci siamo... soprattutto nelle serie più economiche.

Proprio una brutta notizia, ma me l'aspettavo.

Hello everyone! I bought an old tx-sr508 and I have the horrible reversed surround channels... I've been searching/reading for days but can't find the wav. files to update main and dsp chip. I read about three different packages, but can't seem to find them.

CD_SR3080B1B2_10419A_all_10901A.zip

Would anyone be so kind to post any of these files? Or perhaps newer? I believe 1.9main/1.2dsp should be the latest. It would save my day!

Hello and thank you. Yes that is indeed what I'm referencing. I've been digging through that forum as well. That... And dozens of non functioning Onkyo remnants of websites, homecinema-fr.com, avforums.com, repairalmostanything.com and whatnot but nowhere are these images/iso's/zips posted. I even mailed onkyo to ask them if they could provide me with the old firmware, but i got a braindead response like: "unfortunately there wont be any new firmware for your receiver" As if that's what I'm expecting after 15 years . But yeah that is exactly the problem I'm having!

I understand, I'm afraid you can only find the solution through a private individual who still has the wav for the dsp, have you already tried to ask dobrykamil via private message, or Kal Rubinson:

No I hadn't, but I see what you're saying, they seem like heavyweights in their respective forums. I'll give it a try, thank you for the suggestion. I saw some people in this thread also provided the firmware years ago, but I wonder if they're still around as it's been a while. Thanks again!

Scrivo anche in italiano cosi possono leggere tutti, vero il file Wav era stato menzionato in questo thread.

Se qualche proprietario o ex proprietario del Onkyo TX-SR508 ha ancora il file Wav per l'aggiornamento del DSP via ottico, farebbe cosa gradita pubblicarlo, grazie.


I also write in Italian so everyone can read, true the Wav file was mentioned in this thread.

If any owner or former owner of the Onkyo TX-SR508 still has the Wav file for the optical DSP update, it would be nice to publish it, thanks.

Hey thanks for the translation! I really appreciate all the help. Flashing was going to be my last option as I actually did manage to find a binary dump of the 16mbit DSP data. If I'm not mistaken the EN25Q32A you mention is the flash memory module that holds the OSD firmware right? I believe in my tx-sr508 the only 16mbit chip that is part of the SPD board seems to be ES29LV160ET-70TG. I take it I would be flashing this chip then? I don't know what's in this image though, and it may very well be the same version, which wouldn't get me any further. So the actual WAV would give me more certainty.

Hai ragione EN25Q32A è per OSD, mentre il DSP è il tsop 48 ES29LV160ET-70TG:



Questa versione probabilmente va dissaldata, posta su zoccolo compatibile e riprogrammata.


You're right EN25Q32A is for OSD, while the DSP is the tsop 48 ES29LV160ET-70TG:



This version probably needs to be desoldered, placed on a compatible socket and reprogrammed.

Yes, I was afraid of that too, so that'll be my very very VERY last option. I think I'd actually rather transcode the faulty/reversed stream before I try that :yield:

Speriamo qualcuno possa avere ancora il file di aggiornamento, hai fatto il massimo dopo 15 anni di uscita del 508.

Hopefully someone still has the update file, you did the best you could after 15 years of 508 release.
