Faccio un copia/incolla da AVS :
"One single look at a totally whacked and working CRT projection set-up producing a 1080P image is more than enough of a jaw dropper to make one keel over in a dead faint.
This alone would convince you that you need 1080P digital projection. Even thought the CRT unit is still __FAR__ superior at that point, simply because the instantaneous capacity to resolve minute levels of signal change well beyond what a digital 1080P display could ever do.. (the ability to change signal output at minute fractions of a pixel width at 1080P, along with line-to-line overlap and placement considerations push the CRT's ability to resolve images into the stratosphere!!) 4000x3000 digital displays are merely 'catching up' with what the best CRT can do. And the digital units don't have anywhere near the Color or CR capacities of the CRT unit. And..add the fact that the ultimate fidelity that CRT projection can do has STILL not been tapped out yet! She's old....but she ain't dead yet!
So, go ahead and hope for 1080P displays. At least you might be starting to get close to what CRT can do. CRT still far exceeds the best signal source available today, and well into the immediate future."
Several posts down, Mhafner replied:
"Concerning color and grayscale resolution of 8 bit and
10 bit video, yes, concerning spatial resolution, no.
No CRT can do 1080p with a flat frequency response. The
MTF goes below 100% long before 1080p is reached. A
2K digital projector is sharper and a 4K projector is
so much sharper that it's no contest at all."
Not being an expert, who's correct here?
