Annunciate qualche giorno fa le candidature 2013 degli Oscar, giunti ormai a quota 85 edizioni. Per la prima volta l'Academy ha anticipato l'annuncio, rompendo la tradizione che voleva l'apertura delle buste dopo l'assegnazione dei Golden Globes. E le novità, almeno sulla carta si vedono.

Lincoln, che stanotte è stato il grande sconfitto ai Golden Globes, è il film che ha racimolato più nomination (ben 12), seguito a ruota dall'ottimo Vita di Pi, che si ferma a 11 (nuova candidatura alla regia per Ang Lee). Buona la prova di Tarantino con Django Unchained, segnalato per 5 categorie tra cui Miglior attore non protagonista (Christoph Waltz), fotografia (Robert Richardson), sceneggiatura originale (lo stesso Tarantino) e Miglior film.

Il favorito Les Misérables si accontenta di 8 nomination (tra cui Miglior film), giocando sulla doppietta degli attori Hugh Jackman e Anne Hathaway, rispettivamente protagonista e non protagonista.

Tante le assenze nella categoria Miglior regista. Accanto a Steven Spielberg (Lincoln) e Vita di Pi (Ang Lee), mancano infatti proprio Tarantino, Tom Hooper (Les Misérables) e Ben Affleck con il suo Argo, film per il quale ha appena vinto il Golden Globes come Miglior film drammatico e proprio Miglior regia.

Sorprendente l'austriaco Amour, che oltre alla candidatura come Miglior film straniero porta a casa nomination come Miglior attrice protagonista (Emmanuelle Riva), Miglior regia (Michael Haneke), Miglior film e sceneggiatura originale (sempre Haneke).

Delude The Master di Paul Thomas Anderson, che non riesce ad andare oltre le sacrosante candidature per gli attori (Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman e Amy Adams) e Lo Hobbit - Un viaggio inaspettato (solo 3 nomination tecniche come trucco, scenografia, effetti visivi). Ridimensionata anche Kathryn Bigelow, trionfatrice qualche anno fa con The Hurt Locker, che oggi con Zero Dark Thirty porta a casa solo 5 candidature (si a Miglior film, no a Migliore regia)

Non pervenuti il comunque apprezzato Moonrise Kingdom (1 nomination) e Il cavaliere oscuro - Il ritorno (0 nomination). Fuori dalla cinquina come Miglior film straniero il francese Quasi amici, un vero successo in terra europea.
