Netflix in Olanda a 7,99 Euro/mese

Dopo il debutto europeo in Gran Bretagna, Irlanda, Norvegia, Svezia, Danimarca e Finlandia, il noto servizio streaming on-demand debutta ora anche in Olanda con accesso all'intero catalogo (anche in HD) al costo di 7,99 Euro al mese

Stamattina mi sono iscritto al servizio e l'ho provato via l'Apple TV con un paio di cartoni animati per mio figlio... nonostante io abbia una connessione Internet da 150 down/15 up Mbps, la qualità non era particolarmente alta, ma forse la colpa è della sorgente, più che della rete.

Stasera farò altri test con qualche film e serie tv per vedere se e quanto differisce.

Fai la prova da PC usando questa combinazione di tasti Ctrl + Shift + Alt + S durante la riproduzione.
Si dovrebbe aprire lo Stream Manager, e da li scegli il bitrate più alto manualmente.

Anche se da PC non vai oltre i 720p (a differenza della Apple TV che arriva a 1080p), almeno in questo modo vedi se è proprio la qualità di Netflix che non ti soddisfa.
Tieni presente però che la qualità di Netflix non è eccelsa già di suo, di certo non paragonabile alla qualità del Bluray.

Lo streaming da rete 3G sul mio iPhone 4S dello stesso cartone di stamattina fa abbastanza pietà! Speriamo che cambiando la sorgente migliori la situazione. Vi farò sapere dopo i test.

Sei sicuro che il cartone fosse in HD?
Molti contenuti sono SD su Netflix.
Prova a guardare House of Cards, che ha una qualità mediamente alta.

Sto guardando un cartone Pixar della serie Cars e la qualità è notevole! Era decisamente un problema di sorgente.
Non siamo ai livelli di un blu-ray, ma siamo decisamente molto oltre il livello del DVD.

Ho guardato anche il primo episodio di "Orange is the new Black" e un documentario con Stephen Hawking. La qualità è davvero soddisfacente.

Il problema con le sorgenti che non sono PC/Mac è che Netflix seleziona automaticamente il bitrate e la risoluzione che lui crede siano migliori....
Se non sbaglio nelle impostazioni del tuo account puoi selezionare qualcosa tipo: "ho una connessione veloce, riproduci in qualità alta"; prova a dare uno sguardo.

L'uncio settings relativo alla qualità che ho trovato è il seguente:

If you have a Netflix Account (trial or paid) from ANY region, you can login to Netflix while physically in any OTHER region and watch their content. So if you are traveling in the United States and login to Netflix, you'll be able to watch American content.

Netflix is able to determine by your IP address (and perhaps some other magic) where you are logging in from, and show you the content for that region.

We have seen 4K streaming from Netflix before, but while testing Samsung HU8500 (HU9000) we had a chance to take a much closer look. It also gave us an excuse to watch House of Cards during work hours. Netflix specifically labels content that is available as "Ultra HD 4K". When you press play you will get a SD picture, but it will quickly jump to the 4K layer. We experienced no drops in quality afterwards, even though we were using a WiFi connection.

Picture quality is pretty incredible. You can literally see every wrinkle in Mr. Spacey’s face. House of Cards is not exactly action-packed so we had plenty of opportunities for studying the tiny details. At times it felt like people are actually right in front of you. In the best shots the detail level exceeds that of Blu-ray, but in other shots - for example movement - it is hard to tell a difference.

You will be impressed by the picture quality and it is hard to argue that streaming services offer subpar picture quality nowadays. Just take a look at your TV channels. Most people have probably never seen a TV channel in Full HD 1080p - almost every TV channels is 720p or 1080i. Netflix deserves praise for pushing the limits.
