The next step, before focus, positioning, anything, is to re-set everything to factory defaults so you can start with a clean state. Some units like NEC's have the ability to re-initialise their eeproms, erasing all memory banks in the process. I favour this method.
To do it with a 1270 you need to locate the system board and carry out a short procedure.
The system board is housed in a screened area between the red and green tubes underneath the large deflection board on the top of the projector. The deflection board hinges forward once several screws holding it in place have been removed. These screws can easily fall inside the projector so it's often a good idea to use a lightly magnetised screwdriver when removing them. The board will tilt up quite easily so if you're finding it hard keep looking as there's going to be some screws you've missed.
Once the deflection board is up and locked in place (there's a nice little lever for this like the bonnet/hood of your car) remove the screws on the screening can, remove the top of it and locate the system board. It's the one nearest the red tube and has 4 dip switches on it with a little micro switch beside them. Here's what you now have to do.
WARNING: Lethal voltages, use a NON metallic tool for this bit and keep small children and animals away when working with the lid open.
The 4 dip switches should all be ON to start. Turn the unit on and then switch dip NUMBER 1 to OFF, then press the micro switch. Now push DIP1 back to ON and it's all done. You can now power the unit down and put it all back together. Don't forget to fit the top of the screening can.
P.S.
ciao, Marco
