xbox 360 hd dvd

ragazzi ho visto che se ne parla POCO ma siamo quasi vicini alla data dell'hd dvd di xbox 360. dalle ultime notizie il lancio in "tedeschia" dovrebbe essere il 7/11 ad un prezzo di 199 euro con king kong+ telecomando.
i miei dubbi sono ancora tanti:
1. si dice che il lettore può essere collegato al PC ma che lo stesso lo legge come un normale lettore DVD e che solo un aggiornameto firmwere può cambiare le cose (e qui mi ritorna in mente la storia del philips 983!!!!)
2. pare che non ci sia bisogno di uscite HDMI ma solo vga per il full HD, e quì mi sorge la domanda ma l'HDCP maledetto????
insomma un mare di dubbi ma se tutto fosse vere a 200 euro e senza hdcp farebbe comodo a tantissimi.
se sapete qualcosa in più postate grazie

2) L' HD-DVD di Xbox360 non ha bisogno di HDMI per il semplice fatto che la console non ha cavi o uscite digitali.

Per l'HDCP il discorso è ancora un pò nebuloso, ma a quanto pare la risoluzione 1080p sarà possibile anche senza collegamento HDMI con l'aggiornamento che arriverà entro fine anno.

Lo hdcp é una protezione che agisce sulle sole uscite digitali.
Sarà possibile uscire a piena risoluzione con le uscite analogiche 1080i per il component e 1080p per il VGA, in quanto non sarà attivato lo Image Costraint Token (o qualcosa del genere) protezione che, nel caso di utilizzo di uscite analogiche avrebbe dimezzato la risoluzione a 960*540p.
Il lettore viene riconosciuto dal pc non come un dvd, ma come unità ottica hd-dvd: il problema é l'attuale impossibilità di leggere i film tramite pc, per le protezioni e l'attuale carenza di software di riproduzione.

perchè l'ho provata come lettore dvd e mi fa c....are! non si avvicina nenache 1/10 al mio HTPC.

Dai test fatti su AVS Forum hanno detto che è migliore dello stand alone da 500$, con qualità d'immagine a 1080 ineccepibile. Addirittura velocissimo nel caricare il film (solo 10 secondi contro i 30-40 dello A1).

Un test fatto da un utente del forum di DVDFILE.COM:

I was recently able to check out the XBOX 360 HD DVD addon on an immaculately calibrated 65" Pioneer 1080p Plasma display w/ 1:1 pixel mapping. The 360 was running 1080i Component video to the Pioneer which deinterlaces the signal to 1080p using inverse telecine.

Compared to the Toshiba XA1 on the same setup, I'm happy to report that the 360 HD DVD addon looked fantastic based on the comparisons I was able to see - nearly as good, if not just as good. Yes, the 360 HD DVD addon kicks ass in video quality. You will not be disappointed. The 360 loses some points here for not supporting HDMI, but this is not from a quality perspective, only for DRM reasoning - however latest word on ICT is that it will likely not come until 2010 if ever. By then you'll surely have replaced this addon anyway. Therefore, I can't subtract much from the 360's gorgeous vid quality for a pithy $199 entry fee that includes King Kong and the 360 Media Remote.

AUDIO: B
The XBOX 360 addon is able to decode Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby TrueHD. However, due to the lack of 5.1 analog or HDMI on the 360, these formats are output as standard Dolby Digital. While this is a bummer, it is a good thing that the 360 can read these formats, as it means that studios can encode titles in TrueHD and know that every single player out there can read it (even if the user isn't getting full resolution).

FUNCTIONALITY: A-
The 360 HD DVD addon was much, much faster than the XA1, spinning up discs in a fraction of the time. If you hate loadtimes, you'll most likely want to elect the XBOX 360 HD DVD addon as your first hidef disc player. The drive was also quiet and the 360 is much quieter watching HD DVD movies compared to playing games. The HD DVD addon plugs into the USB port on the back of your 360, and the HD DVD addon provides two additional USB ports on the back for a wireless networking adapter or Xbox Live Vision cam.

Overall, highly recommended for the price and really exceeded my expectations!

Well I finally got to play around with the HD DVD addon drive for the 360 this evening and I have to say I am incredibly impressed. I haven't read the Cnet reviews and such, so just incase some of my comments are duplicated, I apologize. But this is a report from a forum member.

First off I have to comment on the access time. WOW this is easily on par if not faster than most DVD players I've used. If there is a disc in the player, the moment you boot your Xbox up and gets past the intro screen, you're immediately in the opening of the disc. Less than 3-4 seconds loading. As far as chapter advances, it's instantaneous.

Now what does the picture look like? It wasn't on a properly adjusted display nor was the player a final build, but it's really really close to the A1 or XA1. The player is remarkably quiet since there really isn't a fan in it. Even the 360 runs just like a DVD on one CPU resulting a more silent experience.

The remote that comes with it is RF just like the controller so that's a bonus for those that are using non-RF or UHF based remote. It's not so great if you want to get the code into a Pronto or MX3000.

Now release date in North America is still next month but they aren't saying which day yet. The good news for Canadians, like myself, is we get the better deal. It's only $199 CANADIAN! as well with Kong/Remote. It's very rare that an item is cheaper in Canadian than the US. Not by much, but most were expecting $250. You can get a couple of flicks with the savings. Booyah!

All in all if only a million users purchase the drive and support it, which isn't asking a lot especially with a 6 million user base, we might see software sales hitting in the hundreds of thousands this Christmas. I don't think Warner will be crying the blues if that happens.

perchè l'ho provata come lettore dvd e mi fa c....are!

Ti dirò, in vga con la possibilità di upscale dei dvd la qualità di visualizzazione non é niente male.
Comunque, come xandyonex evidenziava chi ha avuto la possibilità di provare l'add-on é rimasto favorevolmente impressionato dalla qualità video, assolutamente indistinguibile rispetto al lettore hd-a1 da tavolo e soprattutto dai tempi di caricamento molto più rapidi rispetto al lettore da tavolo.

io invece sono dubbioso, ancora adesso ho avuto problemi e rimandato in assistenza l'xbox360 per l'ennesimo problema delle tre spie rosse, non vorrei che attaccando una periferica così esosa di potenza come un hd-dvd la mia console diventasse inutilizzabile se non in un frigorifero considera he quelo dei blocchi della temperatura è un problema diffusissimo tra i possessori xbox

Il lettore avrà un uscita hdmi?
Se non ce l'avrà si può sapere come hanno intewnzione di superare il discorso HDCP?
Non lo mettono? E quando i films usciranno con HDCP attivato?
Secondo me queste domande sono importanti...
Io sinceramente spero che sul lettore ci sia una connessione HDMI compatibile HDCP in modo che la riproduzione sia garantita da questa connessione...

Si l'ho letto il tuo intervento...
Solo che dubito fortissimamente che sarà possibile uscire in analogico a 1080p...Più che altro perchè dubito che le case cinematograficvhe permettano una cosa di questo tipo... Perchè comunque da una fonte anche analogica a 1080p si possono fare dei master di grande qualità che poi possono a loro volta essere usati per fare eventuali copie pirata...
Per questo nutro grossi dubbi sulle tue affermazioni...
Leggendo in giro su vari forum parrebbe che le idee non siano chiare per nulla riguardo al discorso 1080p via analogico...
Potresti comunque riportarmi un link per capire qual'è la fonte delle tue affermazioni... Così per capire anche se eventualmente sono io in errore! ;D

Anche in Australia sta andando a ruba l'HD-DVD (per ora come prenotazioni ovviamente) per Xbox360 (che è a sua volta andata a ruba dalla sua commercializzazione).
