" Time to write my comparison review between my Foundation and Emotiva XMC-1.
I have used Anthem D2v, Anthem MRX700, Anthem MRX710, Krell Foundation, Sunfire and others in my system.
There is no DIRAC yet and I used the manual PEQ to adjust my curves.
I still have my Anthem's ARC curves and was very easy to adjust my PEQ based on that plus I adjusted the distance and levels of each speaker.
Woooow, absolutely amazing, incredible, wonderful, sweet, mind blowing is XMC-1.
What a world of difference.
As good as Foundation is, XMC-1 blows foundation out of the sea. The upper area freq. is so sweet that I didn't care raising the volume to +9db on XMC-1 while the maximum level is +11db. Now you get the picture. And still XMC-1 was comfortable to listen to without any irritation or fatigue. I don't know how Emo did this but listening to songs that I am very familiar with specially with my Foundation, it sounds absolutely fantastic. With my Foundation I thought my Emo amp XPA-5 was not capable of what Foundation outputs and at volume it sounded like distortion but now with XMC-1 it is relaxed and beautiful.
I cannot believe how much detail I can hear from XMC-1 comparing to Foundation. I hear a lot more. The base on XMC-1 is fantastic. It is like someone is punching me on my chest. It is amazing feeling. The mid-range is so beautiful that you want to keep listening, doesn't matter at what volume. I think Foundation is altering the actual sound in the mid-range to artificially make it sound good (it is just my speculation without any proof) but with XMC-1 it is the natural mid-range without any artificial ingredients in it. Actually the whole range seems to be without any alteration. The 2 channel sound is absolutely fantastic. I also tried a Dolby 5.1 movie last night (no HD, just regular 5.1) and again the sound was fantastic. The sound stage, well what stage, there is no stage, the sound is as big as the real world and the surrounds are extremely well defined. The customization of XMC-1 is way out of chart. One can even assign a specific frequency for bass and treble applications for every channel, just as an example.
I don't care how professional reviews might compare it with Foundation or anything above foundation. They might say it is good for the price or anything like it, but for me Emo XMC-1 blows anything up to Anthem D2v out of the water without a hiccup. It might blow others above Anthem D2v too but I don't know since I have not heard them. By the way Foundation beats Anthem D2v in sound quality IMHO.
Now, all of this is without Dirac. I wonder how much Dirac will improve if there is any room for improvement in my room and my room is not treated and needs correction based on Anthem's ARC.
If someone ask me to pick Foundation or XMC-1 at the same price of $2000 for both units (which with 25% discount I got it for $1500 and some with discount cards can get it for as low as $1200), I for sure will pick the XMC-1. There is no debating in my mind.
Again, this is all in my room, my equipment and my setups and everybody's system and room will make a difference. "
Me sembrava strano ihihihihih
no parlavo dell'emotiva....
