"More impressions from Ekki's shootout between the X5000 and X7000":
"in addition to Oblivion and Mad Max, we looked at a variety of short video clips about HDR, DCI and ultimately 4K material. 3D material was completely omitted. But it also has nobody asked
After all the people sat in the cinema room, Erki showed the differences in black level and contrast between the X5000 and X7000 based on the Gravity. Already with "equal" setting (lamp brightness and degree of opening of the aperture, adaptive iris was off) could detect differences in black level and contrast. I then Ekki times asked to set the Iris X7000 to -12 (which is almost completely closed). Well, since then a milky veil on the X5000, X7000 showed an absolutely impressive Black was compared to the X7000 in fact contrast with almost identical brightness to X5000! I'm looking forward to my future X7000 on my 2,20m wide screen
Next we went to demos and HDR DCI or P3. Lack "real" and final HDR material had to be improvised something here. It was mainly a matter of showing the capabilities of the X7000 in terms gesättigterer colors. The comparison between the conventional color space (Rec.709) and DCI / P3 was impressive ... but it is also garishly colorful. Shop mode applies it really good, Azeman I'm really excited to see how it will look when well mastered films ... with Spiderman in HDR one could already guess (the image quality of Spiderman but I felt as bad). I was impressed by the display capability of the X7000, golden hues. On the basis of demo material you could see clearly how dull is the conventional color space in comparison.
Really impressed but I was out of the picture quality of the X5000 / 7000 for playback of native 4K material. They had actually feel, to have a new projector in front of him! I do not think that I too far leaning out the window when I say that all participants jaw just dropped, compared to a 2k playback. These were not the nuances, but a very significant increase in picture quality! The level of detail and sharpness with activated (!) EShift were absolutely amazing! Hab then asked sometimes in the round to see if anyone is of the opinion that soft eShift distinguished in native 4K material ... which was denied by all the participants! Check it out for yourself at and amazed! Again: the canvas was 4m wide!
Finally, Mr. Hess has again shown that auto-calibration. Has so far everything is working well, so that even the average Joe-Users are able to recalibrate here. Something bad is that probably in the future only the Spyder 4 and 5 are supported. But for pure gamma calibration that does not matter. When Gamut but I would not trust the Spyder 4 so pretty on the road. This also showed a Vergeich with two C6 through CalMAN: the Spyder 4 showed RED and GREEN significantly deviated to. I would wish therefore, finally, as another sensor resume EODIS3 with.
At the end of the event I've talked a little more intense with ECCI Mr Hess and Azeman. It has emerged that the next two years is a X7000 do his service with me
Impressive was the stability of the new generation: there were no crashes, the menu operation was liquid. There was no handshaking problems that switching times are considerably shorter, 4k playback with HDCP2.2. worked perfectly.
I could fill pages tens here yet, but would now like to conclude. Who has more questions: post here. We have addressed in the 10h just about anything and discusses what you can imagine, even all the criticisms to the existing JVC projectors.
In conclusion, I would like to thank Mr Henne, Mr. Hess and Erki for the successful event. I had the impression that tries JVC projector is to push this at any time. On the contrary, Mr. Hess acted absolutely neutral, accepted my criticisms and has just let the pictures speak of the new JVC-generation of its own. So it should be
For all those interested: the X5000 devices are already on the way to the dealers, the X7000 are to follow in early December." -- Nudgiator
