Interessanti Novità con i driver Ati 8.3

Leggendo le migliorie introdotte con i nuovi driver Catalyst 8.3 riguardano anche il reparto video con due novità che credo interessino molto chi utilizza le schede in un HTPC come me.


Digital Panel GPU image scaling

* This release of Catalyst™ introduces a new setting that allows users to enable GPU accelerated scaling for LCD displays. The new setting “Maintain aspect ratio” improves the display resolution image quality when scaling is enable by maintaining the wide panel aspect ratio (stops the image from looking distorted) on wide aspect LCDs


Catalyst Control Center: Advanced Video Quality controls

* This release of Catalyst™ introduces new advanced video quality controls: Edge enhancement, which adjusts the level of sharpness of video content and Noise Reduction, which removes ghosting artifacts while preserving details of the original video. The new slider controls can be found in the All Settings page of the Avivo Video tab found in the Catalyst Control Center.

Ottimo , finalmente si sono decisi a rendere le regolazioni visibili e regolabili , se non ho capito male solo in Vista pero'.

Allora per il "Digital Panel GPU image scaling" sebra sia presente sia sotto xp che sotto Vista, mentre il "Catalyst Control Center: Advanced Video Quality controls" funziona solo sotto vista.
A questo punto sto valutando se installare Vista sul mio HTPC.

A meno che non volevi gia' provare Vista ... magari nelle prossime release lo rendono disponibile anche sotto XP che comunque avra' settato quei parametri ad un certo default immagino.

come questo possa essere utilizzato tramite il renderer evr o vmr9 non saprei
ancora. Alcuni parametri Avivo già ora sono utilizzabili anche in modalità
software , questi mi pare di no. Almeno dalle prime verifiche.
