UPDATE YOUR GRAPHICS CARD DRIVERS. Go to the web site for the manufacturer for your graphics card and download their latest driver and install it per their instructions. If you have a graphics card with the following NVIDIA chipsets (any TNT, TNT2, Vanta, GeForce, GeForce2, Quadro and Quadro2Pro families of chipsets) go to
www.nvidia.com, then "Support Center", then "Driver". Download and then install the Detonator 3 driver for your version of Windows.
USE A DIFFERENT GRAPHICS MODE. Set your display adapter's display area to 800 x 600 and 16-bit color depth. Also try 24 bit color depth and/or some other screen resolution such as 1024 x 768.
To change your display settings, click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Display. On the settings tab, you can change either the Colors or Screen Area settings. Try 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768 at both 16 and 24-bit color
INSTALL THE LATEST VERSION OF DIRECTX.
CHECK IF THE 1394 HOST CONTROLLER CARD IS SHARING IRQ'S WITH ANOTHER DEVICE. To see what IRQ the 1394 host controller is using, do the following:
Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel
Double-click on System
Select Device Manager
Double-click on "Computer", it is the top entry in Device Manager.
The next screen lists all of the devices and the IRQ assigned for that device. The list is in numerical order and starts with 00 and ends with 15. Located the 1394 Host Controller on this list and to the left of it is the IRQ assignment.
Determine how many times that IRQ number is listed and what devices are also assigned to this IRQ. An entry that says, "IRQ Holder for PCI steering" is not a device and can be ignored.
If you are sharing IRQ's you can shutdown your computer and put the 1394 card in another slot. When you restart your computer may give the 1394 card a different IRQ assignment. If continue to share IRQ's, we have some suggestions on how to free up IRQ's in the Setup/Install FAQ section called "How do I free up an Interrupt (IRQ)?"
