    Just got my HD DVD version of this, it just came out. the other reveiwers are refering to the DVD version, which is the same sonically at least except for the DTS true HD sound track. Anyway this is an amazing line up for Carlos, everyones here Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Ravi Coltrane, John McLaughlin, Steve Winwood, Nile Rodgers, Omar Hakim, and of course Chester Thomson on drums. What an amazing line up. The video is clear and crisp in HD as it should be, The sound track I used DTS True HD fantastic what else can I say? If you have an HD DVD player and love music this is a MUST BUY! If I was not going to own it on HD DVD I would buy the DVD version. Great disc, great band, great guests ! BUY IT NOW!

    This concert is an inspiration and hope for world peace. The music and the stars that play the music are the best. Good job to Carlos Santana and the people responsible of the production.     This is a pop extravaganza. The like of which Carlos is only recently known for. (Remember George Benson?) The jazz musicians on the title play for very very little time in any kind of jazz/improv format. The vast majority of the DVD is singers singing non-jazz songs which are backed up by some of the Jazz musicians. There is one jam towards the beginning where they all get about 8 bars. Then later John and Carlos play "Enter the house of the lord" ALL and I said "ALL" of the rest (even jazz titles) are pop type songs. On the other hand if you havn't had enough of "The Banana Boat Song" then this DVD is for you. As for me. My money is gone.

    But do get the Santana and Shorter DVD. That is great. That cooks.

    Hey, if you're a Santana fan from back in the Woodstock days, and appreciate energetic pop music too, and have a special place in your heart for Jingo and Bob Marley's Exodus, then I cant see how you cant not get high off this DVD and Santana's authentic spiritual vibe. A true master has assembled a great band for a great evening to be shared with all. Enjoy. 'Jazz' critics, feh.

    How can you go wrong with a lineup like this? You can feel the energy and they seem to be having so much fun playing together. Some of the instrumentals become a bit tedious and dragged out but I can't think of a better line - up to drag things out with.

    I enjoyed this performance in some respects, but was disappointed in others.
    The show feels like it was put together haphazardly. They did not have enough cameras on stage to properly cover the musicians when they played. Or, the director was incompetent, take your pick. There are several musicians, e.g. Chick Corea and Stevie Winwood, that you NEVER get to see their hands when they're playing. WTF! There are no musician credits on the blu-ray. WTF! And the audio mix is poor. Soloists, esp. sax players, are left way too deep in the mix.Video is ok esp.considering the excess fx smoke.
    The band takes 3-4 songs to really get cooking. This show is more like a jam session with Santana obviously directing when artists solo. It doesn't have the polish of the Return to Forever blu-ray, a state-of-the-art blu-ray for sound, video quality. performance and directing. Most of the artists deliver, although McLaughlin seemed out of his element at times. A typical McLaughlin solo just didn't play well for me during a boogie tune.Corea & Hancock look like they just awoke from a dream and found themselves on stage. The percussion is great - 2-3 drummers + congas.
    This disk gets 3.5 stars for the musicians' performances, 2 for the production. This could be remixed to sound much better.

    carlos zeigt sich in bester spiellaune und seine mitmusiker streifen (vieleicht mit ausnahme des sängers) immer wieder die grenze zur genialität.
    viele, sehr inspirierende augenblicke, fabelhafte solis und famoses zusammenspiel wird geboten.
    weniger was wenn man seine klassischen hits sucht, aber wunderbar für freunde der stilrichtung von alben wie: caravanserai, love-devotion-surrender oder swing of delight.
    aber auch das gute alte "jingo" habe ich nie besser gehört.
    feines bild und sehr guter klang runden das ganze ab.
    zum immer wieder ansehen und hören.
